Lilly's last Saturday: We had an awesome time at Lilly's this past Saturday. It was great to be able to play early and hang out with everyone afterward. The Long Islands were deceptively tasty . . . The sound was great, and we had a great turnout, so thanks to everyone who came out to support us. We will have videos from the show up on our facebook and myspace pages sometime in the next few days.
And we can't say enough about The Sweeps! We really appreciate their hooking us up with the show and taking us under their wing. For those of you who didn't get to hear them play, their set was amazing. Just really high energy, fun progressive punk rock. They'll be playing with us at our Shanahan's show on Dec. 18. Please take the opportunity to see them (and us) live in Downers -- you will be hooked.
Next on the docket: We are playing at Shanahan's (2009 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove) Battle of the Bands this Thursday (Dec. 2). The battle starts at 9 pm. We'll be going on 3rd (out of 3) and playing a full 45 minutes. No cover!
Big Shanahan's show Dec. 18: As I mentioned above, we have a big Saturday show coming up at Shanahan's on Saturday Dec. 18. The show starts at 9 and will feature ourselves, the Sweeps, and Jet Black Comedy. We are really excited about the bands that are playing with us, and if you like us, you will definitely like them. This is an important one for us. If we get a good turn out, Shanahan's will have us back relatively regularly on weekends, so please come support us and help us keep landing good shows in Downers Grove.
Demo update: Troc, Thornton and I are getting together this evening to try to finalize the mix for our 2 song demo. As soon as it is finished we will make downloads available on our facebook and myspace pages. We are loving the way it's sounding, so we can't wait to show you guys.
If you dig us, you might dig: The Dangerous Summer - The Permanent Rain
Help us out from the comfort of your computer chair: If you want to support the band but don't feel like getting up, here are some great things you can do to help us out without having to put on pants:
1) listen over and over again to our songs on myspace or facebook or watch our videos on facebook;
2) "like" us on facebook and click the button to "suggest us" to all your friends;
3) become a "fan" on reverbnation;
4) subscribe to our blog;
5) sign up for our e-mail list;
6) Or just visit our myspace, facebook, or reverbnation sites early and often
Doing any of these things helps move us up the charts on the social networking site and will help get us heard by more people. We really appreciate the help.

Satruday show and yet another mix of Maryanne
Happy black wednesday everyone!
Come See us Saturday Nov. 27, at Lilly's Rock club in Lincoln park:opening up for the Sweeps. The show starts at 8:00 pm. We will now be going on second at 9:00pm. You can RSVP on the facebook event page here. We won't have to break down the set this time, so we'll be looking to having a drink with everyone after the show!
Demo: Another day, another new mix of Maryanne. I am feverishly reading up on techniques for mixing and mastering, so I'll be tweaking this song for awhile, at least until we can get Marcus' sax part recorded and say "enough's enough." I think the latest version has a lot more punch, but too much reverb on my vocals, and some of the clarity of the instruments was sacrificed to make it punch. Still, one step closer to where we want it . . . One more recording session left on Fever Dream, the other song from our demo. As soon as we get Carrie's backup vocals, we'll get that sucker mixed and on the web.
Reverb Nation charts: We are up to #94 on the Chicago music charts for reverbnation, which essentially tracks hits on artists' websites. Keep stopping by our facebook "my band" page and playing our music online to help push us even farther up.

Next on the Docket: We are playing a show this Saturday Nov. 27, at Lilly's Rock club in Lincoln park, opening up for the Sweeps. The show starts at 8:00 pm. We will now be going on second at 9:00pm. Thanks everyone!
Show Last Night: Wow. We had an amazing turnout at the Moose last night and raised a ton of money for the Bonfield Express. It was a way bigger crowd than we expected, thanks to you guys spreading the word among your friends - keep it up! It was also awesome having everyone up and dancing and singing along! Congrats to Shannon, winner of the dance prize. Not sure we should let Shawn pick the dance prize anymore after he awarded second place to the guy who kept trying to grind on my mom . . . but what's done is done. Thanks so much to everyone who came out to support us. You guys are amazing and we really appreciate it!

Show Tonight and the Sweeps
Show tonight: Everyone is revved up to play at the Moose tonight! A few differences from our Ballydoyle shows: (1) longer set; (2) we get to use our own amps and drum set, so this'll be more OUR sound; (3) Thornton (bass) and Troc (drums) are going to add their angelic voices to the mix to really fill out our sound. We'll be running a raffle to support Bonfield Express, a local scholarship charity with a thanksgiving day 5k in Downers, so bring some dolla dolla bills ya'll (not sure I can pull that off . . .).
Opening for The Sweeps next Saturday: The Sweeps have asked us to open for them at Lilly's Rock Club in Lincoln Park next Saturday (Nov. 27). The show starts at 8pm. So for all of you living downtown, this would be a great time to see us. You can listen to The Sweeps' music and view the video of their appearance on WGN news here: The Sweeps facebook page. The Sweeps will also be playing with us at our Dec. 18 Shanahan's Saturday show. They are really good, so please check out their music.

Looking forward to Nov. 19 . . . and using our new Blog!
Hey guys!
We have a blog now . . . welcome to the future. I'm going to post on this sucker pretty regularly to keep everyone updated on what's going on with our band, so please subscribe and check back regularly.
Show Tomorrow: We are looking forward to our first full-length show tomorrow at the Moose in Downers Grove. The past couple of weeks we've put finishing our demo on hold in order to polish up the new material we're adding. We've got a couple covers in the set now, which I know you guys are going to dig. After the show, we're planning on partying for a while in downtown Downers, so come prepared! We will also be running a 50/50 raffle to support the local Bonfield Express scholarship charity.
Demo: The version of Maryanne that is available for download on facebook is still a work in progress. In the week or two after the Moose show, we are hoping to wrap it up along with the other song we will be releasing called "Fever Dream". The only thing left to record on Maryanne is Marcus Ranucci's sax part. All we have left for Fever Dream is a little bit of vocal touch up from both myself and Carrie. Once that's done, we'll play with the mix. And publish the songs online. Keep checking back on our facebook and myspace pages, cause they should be up in the next few weeks.
Album: As soon as we're finished with the demo, the plan is to get started ASAP on a 6-8 song album. Depending on how the demo sounds, we will have to decide whether to keep recording in our home studio, or go into a professional studio for the album. It's a tradeoff between professional gear and expertise and the artistic freedom to spend a ton of time tinkering with the smallest details. Once the demo is released, we'd love to get all of your opinions on what you think.
Promotion: We're doing everything we can to get our name and music out there on the internet and around town. If anyone has any other ideas, please leave us a comment. Also, if you'd like to join our street team and help us out, send me an e-mail. If you haven't done so already, the easiest way to support is is by "liking" our facebook page and/or recommending the page to your friends. You can also become a "fan" of our ReverbNation page (which is linked to our facebook page) and help us move up the local charts, or sign up for our e-mail list by simply plugging your address into the link above. Best of all, come to our show tomorrow and bring a friend or six.
That's all for now, but check back soon!
